The CITES Trade Database is the most comprehensive and authoritative database on international trade in wildlife. Dating back to 1975, it reflects the official trade records as reported by Parties in their annual reports to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
A guide to using the CITES Trade Database
Due to the complexities of interpreting CITES trade data, it is highly recommended that all those interested in using the CITES Trade Database read this guidance prior to using the data.
Net trade is the result of subtracting a country's re-exports from its imports. Therefore if your data selection only involved imports to or exports from specified countries then you cannot calculate net imports or exports. You will only be able to obtain gross imports or exports.
